“Chicken” is a grade 10-year-old palomino gelding with a solid foundation and a versatile background. He has been used for a variety of disciplines — from packing in the mountains to showing in the reining pen — and has the athleticism and talent to go in many directions.
He has been started on the barrel pattern and shows excellent natural ability, with good rate and quick turns. He has also been introduced to jumping and shows promise with plenty of scope, though he is still green and not yet experienced over fences.
Chicken is soft in the bridle, balanced, and comfortable to ride. His lope is smooth, his transitions are easy, and he’s responsive to cues without being pushy. Whether you’re working in the arena or heading out on the trail, he stays attentive and willing.
He’s well-mannered on the ground and easy to be around. He stands quietly for the farrier and vet, bathes and clips without issue, and enjoys being groomed and pampered. He’s an easy keeper who can be shod or go barefoot. Up to date on vaccinations, teeth, and farrier work.
Additional Information: Loads and hauls great. Gets along well with other horses — enjoys having a buddy but is not barn or buddy sour. Comfortable stalled or turned out
Sound and healthy
Chicken is best suited for an intermediate to experienced rider, as he can be reactive and occasionally spooky. In the right hands, he’s a talented, athletic gelding with a lot to offer and the versatility to fit many disciplines.
